Hello, I’m Rosie, and I am a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Welcome to my website, and thank you for visiting.
My first experience of working therapeutically was when I co-facilitated support groups for Student Minds, a leading charity which focuses on promoting positive mental health in universities. I had previously helped deliver Empowering Families workshops for eating disorder charity Beat, for which I was subsequently nominated for a Beat National award for 'local campaigner' in 2014, and was asked by Student Minds to design a series of workshops called 'Supporting Supporters,' aimed at guiding friends and family members to help a loved one struggling with their mental health. It was a real privilege to work for these organisations, and I learned an awful lot from doing so.
The most important thing I learned was the true value of listening. That may sound silly, but in life we so often listen to reply, and not to try and understand. We might try to solve the problems of those we love, because we have their best interests at heart, but sometimes, people can find they need the space and gentle support to discover how they really feel, and rediscover the resources they have in order to solve such problems themselves. I hope to offer people space to reflect and explore, in order that they can flourish and grow on their own terms.
